Kilimanjaro Summit Success Rate

Reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is the ultimate goal for every climber. While many set out with determination, not everyone makes it to Uhuru Peak. The success rate depends largely on preparation, the chosen route, and the support of experienced guides. At KAT MOSHI, we pride ourselves on offering expert guidance and the right strategies to give our climbers the highest possible chance of success.

Understanding Success Rates

Kilimanjaro’s overall summit success rate ranges between 45% and 65%, depending on the route and length of the climb. Shorter routes often have lower success rates because climbers do not have enough time to acclimatise to the altitude. In contrast, longer routes such as the Lemosho, Machame, or Northern Circuit significantly improve the odds, with success rates climbing above 85%. Choosing the right route and pace is key to adjusting safely and reaching the summit with confidence.
